FAQs
Q1: Do I need to supply my own wood?
A1: You may provide your own wood if you would like. Otherwise, we can discuss wood options and I will acquire the wood. Some types of wood are more difficult to acquire.
Q2: Will the carving be finished, or do I have to sand it, stain it, etc?
A2: I will sand and stain your carving unless you request otherwise. We can also discuss minimal painting on sculptures, ie: facial features, etc.
Q3: Will my carving look "as good as new" 5 years later?
A3: Most carvings are placed outside and are exposed to the natural weather elements which can contribute to a weatherized look. Carvings can benefit from an additional coat of varnish if they are exposed to direct sunlight on a daily basis. Also, carvings are made out of wood which naturally cracks overtime. This can add character to your carving and will not destroy your piece of art.
Q4: How long will it take for me to get my carving after I place my order?
A4: Carvings are completed based on when the order was submitted and the amount of time necessary to complete the carving. Keep in mind that this is a piece of artwork and time is necessary to complete quality work.
Q5: Do you have any finished carvings that I can purchase?
A5: Yes, I typically have some inventory available for purchase. Please contact me to discuss your interest and to determine my current available items.
Q6: What kind of carvings can you make?
A6: I am able to make name signs and wildlife sculptures. (Check the Pictures tab to see some photos). Please contact me to discuss your ideas as I am open to custom orders and new ideas.
